We’re going on a girlfriend trip… a tribute to friendship

We’ve cleared our schedules and packed our bags (the most difficult part no doubt), because we’re going on a girls’ trip…bucket list tick right there before we even leave.

And besides how amazing I know where we go and what we see is going to be, a girls’ getaway is actually also beneficial to your health, and that’s not us talking — that’s science. Because medical studies show that the bond between women is critical to emotional and physical health and our quality of life. It has been proven that friendship can extend life expectancy, lower chances of heart disease and even help us better tolerate pain. Really! So this trip is kind of like a health retreat 😂

Women need other women. They always do. It is a special bond. It is like no other. The women we have chosen to become our sisters, our tribe, our partners in crime, our girlfriends… the ones that reside in that tight inner circle that see us and all of our parts…our truly true selves. Vulnerable. Naked. They see the bad, ugly parts of us but through a sort of rosy filter that allows them to love us anyway, in spite of, or even because of our faults. These are the women we slay dragons for and with. They are the mainstays of our life. They know us…at times they may know us even better than ourselves. My travelling companions are these women.

There is great comfort in knowing that this inner circle is there for you – in all of your days. In your best ones. In your worst ones. These women have had my back. To support. To cheer me on. To offer a warm bed (literally Sue) and a hot cup of tea (or glass of wine depending on the circumstances) at any time of the night. To answer your call or your text. To send out loving prayers when there is just a sense that they are needed. Words are often not needed. Just a look. Just a feeling. These strong women. They lift me up. They help make me who I am today. And tomorrow and everyday. They are a part of me and I am a part of them. This kind of friendship, this kind of love is what makes the world such a beautiful place.

I feel incredibly grateful for these women…and so excited to be able to have played a part in bringing this time together and to be sharing it with them.

I have always loved the Lois armstrong song “what a wonderful world”. And I literally do regularly think to myself, what a wonderful world.- and so it seemed the perfect name for this blog. I know immeasurable treasures await us, precious encounters, colorful experiences and sparkling moments of happiness.

Join us as we celebrate life- relaxing, unwinding and adventuring (and drinking a few Proseccos) as we explore a small part of our wonderful world
